Headteacher's Update

We really are into the swing of the new term with clubs starting at lunchtime and afterschool being well attended; Year 11 students are getting focused on their futures by attending revision and study sessions. I am also delighted that our Learning Resource Centre is being so well used for Homework Club, especially by some of our newer students.

Year 7s have impressed us with their confident start to the new year and we hope this continues for the weeks, months and years ahead. They are leading the way studying our new LIFE curriculum, developing the skills of challenging themselves, being conscientious in their approach to learning and developing confidence and compassion. We want all of our students to develop into the best versions of themselves that they can be and we believe these 4Cs encompass our core values.

We have seen the very best of some of our Year 11 students in the past week as Senior Prefects were interviewed for positions on the Student Leadership Team. They had to submit a letter of application and write a pen portrait to share with students and staff, they spoke for 90 seconds on a subject of their choice to a Year 7 assembly and we requested feedback from staff in school to form references. The shortlisted six students were invited to interview and faced a panel of the Senior Staff Leadership team and Governors. This experience, probably quite nerve wracking for them, was a real pleasure for us to witness as students spoke about what they had gained from the school and what they wanted to give back; however, having to select from that field was a huge challenge.

We are delighted to announce that Ella Newey and Oliva Hart will work together to lead the team as Head Students, supported by two deputies Nancy Roberts and Jaydyn Ajadi; Megan Eastick will lead the School Council and Callum Smith will lead a Charity Committee. Congratulations to them all and everyone involved; we have hundreds of students who take up Prefect roles across the school each year and each and every one of them does a great job.
