Headteacher's Update

Claydon High School was delighted to open its doors to younger students and their families as well as members of the wider community, at our Open Evening this week. Hundreds of people flooded in to the school to visit a range of classrooms and engage in varied events such as: icing the school logo onto biscuits, undertaking scientific experiments with jelly babies, watching a performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, competing against GCSE PE students in table tennis, calculating probability when “Playing your cards right”,  rowing challenges and building tetrahedrons. This was all in addition to finding out about the school and its curriculum.

Year 6 students and their families were guided around the site by volunteers from Year 8 and Year 11 Prefects supported them in competitions to make it around the whole school and in DT curriculum challenges and a Maths treasure hunt. Courtney and Toby, students in Year 7 who have been here for just four weeks stood up in front of huge audiences to speak about their positive experience upon joining the school.

Many visitors spoke about the warm welcome they received from students and staff and all of us the school were delighted that the qualities we are most proud of at the school, our students’ confidence and compassion, were evident to all.

We welcome anyone who is interested in finding out more about the school to visit us for an Open Morning; dates are advertised here on our website or you can contact Julie Saunders, Headteacher's PA on 01473 836110.
