CLAYDON SPOTLIGHTS 2017

This year's 'Claydon Spotlights' production started life back in March, when a notice went up in school, asking students to sign-up if they had a particular talent or skill that they could showcase on stage. Well, it seems that we have an abundance of talent here at Claydon High School and we are very proud that we were able to showcase this over two performances on 27th and 28th June. The show featured a variety of acts, including: music, singing, dance, comedy, drama and much more. It was a bit nerve-wracking putting our trust in students to make decisions on what they wanted to do, but they did us proud with fantastic performances on the night. Huge congratulations and thanks to all the students (performers and backstage) who took part - you are a credit to the school! Thanks also go to parents/carers, staff and PTA for your support, it is very much appreciated.

GREASE 2016

Congratulations to the extremely talented cast and crew who transformed the school into ‘Rydell High’ and took us back to 1950s America, with a fantastic production of ‘Grease’ on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th July. With high energy, humour, great choreography and, of course, all the favourite songs everybody knows and loves, the students did the school proud with outstanding vocals and strong performances all round! Thanks go to everyone involved, including performers, back stage crew, front-of-house, staff and parents/carers for their support during a very demanding rehearsal schedule - well done!

Headteacher's Weekly Update

There is a myth that in a school, once external exams are done, things start to “wind down” for the summer. That is certainly not the case at Claydon and the last week has been busy with lots of events offering opportunities for our students to experience something new. Last week we welcomed Year 6s who will join us in September and they were supported by Year 7 and 8 students as they found their way around school and enjoyed lessons. This week Year 5 students from local primary schools enjoyed a “Sea” themed Arts day involving Music, Drama, Dance, Sport and Art, also supported by our new student leaders in KS3. Students in Year 9 travelled to Cadbury World upon completion of a chocolate themed project in DT Year 10 students visited

MADAGASCAR — Congratulations!

Huge congratulations to all the cast and crew who took part in our production of Madagascar. The show couldn't run without our very talented students but also our backstage crew and those people who gave up valuable time to support with refreshments, front of house, sound and lighting, costumes, hair and make-up, props, scenery etc... It was great to see all your hard work and weeks of rehearsals culminating in stunning performances across two nights. The singing, dancing, acting and comedy moments were superb! Sincere thanks also to parents/carers for their support and to those who came to watch the show, we hope you enjoyed it.

Claydon Bake Off

Well done to all those students and staff who entered the 'Claydon Bake Off'. We had some truly amazing cakes that would have competed with the professionals and it was very difficult to judge!

Congratulations to our overall winners, Jasmine S in the 'Showstoppers' category, who made the large chocolate/cherry cupcake and Ella in the 'Small Bakes' with her mini carrot cakes. Well done to runners-up: Bethany and Erin, Lottie, Lucy and Jasmine C. We must also mention Mrs Lovell-Brown, winner of the staff category.

Lastly - a big thank you to Ellie T who worked very hard to organise the event, ably assisted by Faith, Alex and Joseph.

Slices of cake were sold to students at lunchtime and the money raised will go towards the charity 'FIND' which supports families in need.
