‘Be the best you can be’

“You can't stop a teacher when they want to do something. They just do it.” (J. D. Salinger)

If you want to make a difference to the lives of young learners by inspiring them through the study of literature, come and join a like-minded faculty of English specialists and enthusiasts.

GCSE English results have been excellent over the last few years. In 2017 the school achieved 43% in the basics measure of English and Maths and above, with a higher percentage projected for 2018. We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of English to teach the subject across the age and ability range and support our quest for classroom excellence through innovative and creative teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to motivating students to reach their full potential and supporting whole school development and the raising of standards.  They will join a strong team of supportive colleagues who have worked hard to respond to curriculum change in KS3 and at GCSE with exciting new units of work.

This post would be suitable for a new entrant to the profession or a colleague seeking to broaden their experience.  Claydon High School and Suffolk LA provide an excellent support programme for newly appointed staff and NQTs will be paid for working hours in July if they are available to come into school at the end of the summer term. We pride ourselves on our positive hardworking ethos and collegiate atmosphere.

Claydon High School is a popular mixed comprehensive school on the outskirts of Ipswich, easily accessed from the A12 and A14.
